Born in 1982, Ruthie is a theatre creator, director, playwright and performer. She is based in London. A graduate (with distinction) of the School of Dramatic Arts of the Kibbutzim College in Tel Aviv and of The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama in London. She performed in Israel, Poland, London and India and won a variety of awards for her works. Ruthie participated as an Israeli representative in the Lincoln Center Directors Lab NYC in 2013 and 2014. In 2015 the Arts council England defined her as a “promising artist” and she received an “exceptional talented visa” for the UK.

 

Education

2012 -2013 – Master of Arts (With Distinction) in Performance Practices and Research, Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, London.

2005-2008  – Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and Teaching Certificate in Directing and Teaching Drama, The school of Theater, Kibbutzim college, Tel-Aviv.

Artistic Experience

2015- Director, playwright and  performer – “The Princess doesn’t eat cheeseburgers” – an Israeli-Portuguese co production, The International Fringe theatre Festival (Acco), Suzanne Dellal (Tel-Aviv).  

2013 – Creator and performer –   “I am. I am. I am.” – an intermedial performance in the Brink Festival, Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, London.

2012 – Initiative, Co-director, writer and performer –   “ZSPERA 42” –  An Israeli-Polish co-production in Lodz -Poland, in collaboration with the director Tomas Rodowicz & theater group “Chorea”.

2012- Co-director, playwright and actress  – “Postal Delivery to God in collaboration with the director  Amit Zarka, Woman Festival, Israel (2012) , BRM 17th International Festiavl, India (2015), The Arab-Hebrew  theatre , Jaffa – Israel. 

2010 – Director and playwright –  “Grace” ,Notzar theater, Bat-Yam.

2010 – Director and writer  – “Cheruta” (An adaptation of two tales from the Talmud to stage),  Kibbutzim College, Tel-Aviv.

2008 – Director, playwright and actress –  “Twenty two pictures”– Won the best play prize in  The International Fringe theatre festival, Israel 

2007 – Director and writer (Adaptation) –  “The dybbuk” by S. Ansky, Kibbutzim college, Tel-Aviv

2006 –Director, playwright- “Warlike collage” based on ” Antigone” by Sophocles  and “Iphigenia in Aulis” by Euripides, Kibbutzim college, Tel-Aviv.

2005-Assistant director,the show “Life is almost“- text from Chanoch Levin’s plays

 

Wining Scholarships & Grants:

2010 – Grant from Polish institute (Tel-Aviv) & Adam Mickiewicz institute (Poland) for making a Theatre project in Poland, in cooperation with polish theatre artists.
